Hong Kong Barista Championship

Hong Kong Barista Championship will be taking place, for the first time, in Hong Kong. The competition will be hosted by Hong Kong Professional Coffee Association. It will be held on 7th September, 2011 and in conjunction with Restaurant and Bar Hong Kong 2011 at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). Talented Baristas will showcase their professional and extraordinary knowledge and techniques. Winner will represent Hong Kong at 2012 World Barista Championship.

The World Barista Championship (WBC) is the current premier barista competition, with the winners of more than 50 national barista championships competing for the world title. The aim of Hong Kong Regional Championship is to highlight professionalism, passion and skill through various criteria as outlines in the WBC Rules and Regulations, as well as to promote coffee culture in Hong Kong.

Each competitor will prepare 4 espresso, 4 cappuccinos, and 4 original signature drinks in 15 minutes during competition to demonstrate their proficiency in coffee. A panel of six international qualified judges from all over the world will rate heir performances.

The press conference will be held on 23rd July, 2011 2:30 p.m. at Caffe Essenza, G/F., One Landmark East, 100 Hau Ming Street, Kwun Tong, Kowloon.
