Hong Kong Professional Coffee Association will team up with Diversified Events Hong Kong to organise the first World Siphonist Championship 2011 (Hong Kong regional competition) on 8th September 2011 during Restaurant & Bar Hong Kong 2011 in Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The Champion will represent Hong Kong to enter the Grand Final World Siphonist Championship held by the Specialty Coffee Association of Japan on 30th September 2011.
World Siphonist Championship is one of the five world championships recognized by the Specialty Coffee Association of America, Europe and Japan. Helen Chow from Xen Coffee won the 2nd runner up in the World Siphonist Championship 2010 for Hong Kong, and was awarded the title of World Siphonist.
Each participant will prepare four home-blended black coffees, and four original specialty coffees within 15 minutes, to be judged and evaluated by four qualified judges.
The press conference will be held on 23rd July, 2011 2:30 p.m. at Caffe Essenza, G/F., One Landmark East, 100 Hau Ming Street, Kwun Tong, Kowloon. Helen Chow will also be present to perform a live demonstration.
The first round of the championship will be held on 20th August 2011, while the venue will be announced shortly.
